Selling a Secondhand PC

Selling or passing on a secondhand PC is a great way to generate extra money or save on buying someone a gift.

Perhaps the most important thing is dealing with any data left on the machine. Not only because you need this data but also because it may be personal data you do not wish strangers to see. The bast way to normally is to backup all data to a a blank dvd using a program such as nero or windows built in backup programs. You can google this topic to see the best methods.

The next step is to wipe the pc clean by reinstalling the operating system. This not only wipes your data completely it will restore your pc to a the same state you bought it in. With a good clean and a reinstall the PC is in a new state.

You can normally find a disk that came with the PC. If you set the boot options and follow the onscreen instructions. If you are unsure about any of this find someone in your local area – this is less than an hours work in most cases.
