This system is one of the nicest Optiplex 960 Mini Towers you’ll find and is priced to sell NOW using the BUY IT NOW feature. This is a great system for use as a workstation, video/photo editing, or would also work just fine as an everyday computer. The processor included in this system is the Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz which has been overclocked by me to run at 3.0GHz (see paragraph below for explanation of overclocking).

Here is the explanation of the CPU running faster than its rated speed. To speed up the processor, I have used a little known trick to fool the motherboard into thinking that the processors runs on a 1333 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB). The process of making a processor run faster than it’s rated speed is commonly referred to as overclocking. The processor normally runs at 266 FSB (1066 MHz Quad Pumped) with 9x multiplier (266 x 9 ~ 2400MHzor 2.4GHz) but now runs at 333 FSB (1333 MHz Quad Pumped) with 9x multiplier (333 x 9 ~ 3000MHz or 3.0GHZ).

The key to doing this modification (the mod only involves the CPU and not the motherboard) is to know what to do and finding a CPU that is capable of increasing it’s FSB from 1066 Mhz to 1333 MHz. I have been offering overclocked processors in Dell systems for well over 2 years now. Plus, I’ve been using a Precision 380 with an overclocked Pentium4 4.0GHZ processor as my own personal system since August 2005. I have had no problems at all in all this time. At this point I will consider it a trade secret on what the modification involves but I will say that it is reversible from the CPU and you should be able to find info on the internet if you look hard enough. I will also mention that the overclocking does not involve using a “hacked” BIOS or any software utilities/programs.

I don’t simply increase the speed of the processor and hope that it runs stable. I extensively test the processor under maximum stress to make sure that it runs stable. Plus, I don’t stress test the system at room temp since room temperature can change from one season to the next and if you live in a hot climate your room temp could very easily be higher than mine. What I do is stress test the systems in a temperature controlled environment where the temperature is around 90-95°F. I then run the system with 4 instances of Prime95 (2 instances are used for dual core systems) and will occasionally run a 3D demo like 3Dmark03 to add some additional stress. The system is deemed stable if it goes 48 hours with no calculation errors in Prime95 and no lockups or other problems. I can truly say that the overclocked system I sell are rock solid stable

Some people are always skeptical about whether or not you can even overclock a Dell. If you have any concerns about the quality of the system or whether or not it is possible to run the system at overclocked speeds then please see my feedback section at the bottom of this listing. I have been selling systems like this for well over a 2 years now. This will hopefully address and questions or concerns you might have.

Product ConditionThis system was recently assembled by me. I bought this as a barebones system (case & motherboard) and installed all the remaining parts that were needed. The system is in perfect working condition and has been fully tested to ensure proper operation. The system is in very good to excellent physical condition as well. There are a few light scuffs on the case but nothing that is really that noticeable.

The system does not carry a warranty through Dell. For the warranty, I will offer a 90-day parts warranty on the system starting from your date of receipt. If you have determined that a part has gone bad (or I can try to help you troubleshoot as well) then I will make arrangements with you to send a replacement part. Also, I am pretty good at trouble shooting problems so if you have any problems down the road past 90 days then please let me know and I will do my best to help out.

Special Live.com Cashback PromotionThere is a special promotion that Microsoft is doing with eBay to promote Microsoft’s new shopping search engine called: Live.com This promotion pays you cash back to your Paypal account approximately 60 days after making payment on an eligible eBay purchase (sometimes the cashback might get paid right after you purchase the item but there’s no way to know beforehand if you’ll get immediate cashback or have to wait 60 days). This is really very simple to do. It may seem too good to be true but from personal experience I can tell you that it is legitimate. 4) Click on the link that says “Live Search CashBack” right beside of the gold cashback emblem.

5) This will take you to the ebay website and you’ll see a green “Microsoft Cashback” icon up in the top center of the page. You’re NOT limited to the items that comes up in the initial search. You can buy just about anything that has a Buy It Now option as long as you make payment through Paypal (excludes real estate and automobiles).

6) Throughout the checkout process the discount will show on the screen and you’ll get a message from eBay after making the purchase that will direct you to the live.com website to register for an account (no cost to setup the account)
