Up for your consideration is this solid performing HTPC. It’s powerful enough to handle just about any application you can throw at it, yet is fairly energy efficient. During testing, it idled at between 85-90W, used only 130W during Blu-Ray Playback, and barely topped 220W at 100% peak load. For this build I used the following components: CASE- Silverstone Grandia GD04B- Measures 17.3″ W x 12.7″ D x 5.9″ H. Cooled by 3 Quiet 120mm Fans. POWER SUPPLY- BFG LS450 450W 80%+ efficient. MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H. CPU-95W AMD Propus 620 Quad Core running at 2.6Ghz per core with a 2mb L2 cache. MEMORY- 6GB Corsair XMS PC6400(DDR2 800) with 5-5-5-15 timings. HARD DRIVE: Samsung Eco Green 1T 5400 RPM 16mb cache- 8.89ms seek time,5.52ms latency- draws a maximum of 6.3W during seek. OPTICAL DRIVE: LITEON iHOS206 Blu-Ray drive- 6X Blu Ray read, 16X DVD,48X CD read- 16X DVD write, 12X DVD/RW write. This is one of the quieter drives out there. GRAPHICS: XFX HD5750- 700Mhz core clock, 1GB 128bit GDDR5 Memory running at 4600Mhz- Direct X 11 ready- Built in HDMI port. It performs better than an nVidia GTX250 while only drawing 16W at idle and 85W at full load. AUDIO; ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 – 109db signal to noise- optical out- One of the cleanest sounding cards on the market. SOFTWARE: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Bitdefender Internet Security 2010, Paint.net- a free, high powered photo editing suite, Open Office,and Advanced System Care- a privacy and registry cleaning utility.
